A WOOLWICH THAT WORKS
TODAY AND TOMORROW

ACCOUNTABLE GOVERNMENT

Residents should be able to understand where their money is going and what they are getting for it.

I propose the following:

1. An annual "State of Ward 1" report:

  • What was promised

  • What was completed

  • What wasn't

  • What was spent

  • What changed

  • What is coming next

2.Better project reporting major municipal projects:

  • Budget

  • Timeline

  • Progress

  • Problems

  • Final cost

3. Measure outcomes, not just spending

  • Instead of: "We spent $2 million."

  • I will ask: "What did residents receive for the $2 million?"

MAKE OUR RESOURCES WORK HARDER

Before asking residents for more, let's make sure we're getting the most from what we already have.

I will advocate for:

  • Departmental efficiency reviews

  • Better use of technology

  • Shared services and partnerships

  • Grant opportunities

  • Better procurement

  • Reducing duplication

  • Reviewing underused municipal assets

  • Evaluating programs based on outcomes

  • Looking at whether services can be delivered differently

  • Multi-year financial planning

I'm not interested in cutting for the sake of cutting. I'm interested in getting better value for residents.

PROTECT THE WOOLWICH WE KNOW WHILE BUILDING THE WOOLWICH WE NEED

"How do we make sure growth doesn't erase what makes Woolwich special?"

For Elmira, that could include:

  • Downtown vitality

  • Heritage

  • Local businesses

  • Community events

  • Parks

  • Recreation

  • Walkability

  • Trails

  • Agricultural identity

  • Small-town character

  • Volunteerism

  • Local organizations

Let's not just invest. Let's make sure the investment produces the community outcomes residents actually want.

If elected, I will ask five questions before supporting major decisions:

1. What problem are we solving?

2. What will it cost?

3. What alternatives did we consider?

4. What does it mean for residents today?

5. What does it mean for Woolwich 10 years from now?
